Covid lockdown in China

Millions of people living in China are currently under lockdown due to the rise in Covid-19 infections. In a case that has been described as the worst Covid outbreak in China since the pandemic started in late 2019, 10 cities has been placed under lockdown temporarily. Some of these cities include Hong Kong and Shenzhen where daily cases of Covid infection is at the highest. Experts worry that if the outbreak continue at this rate it will have a negative effect on manufacturing and international supply chain.

As the the price of gas is getting higher, it’s no surprise that many consumers are considering switching to electric vehicles. With the cost per gallon ranging from 5 to 6 dollars in most States, 20 dollars can barely get you 4 gallons. That’s less than half a tank (150 miles) in most sedan and SUV. Whereas, if you drive an EV such as the long-range Tesla model 3, 20 dollars can get you close to a full battery charge with a rang of approximately 270 miles. Everything has its pros and cons, but as the price of gas remains uncertain, this could be a good time to invest in EV. It saves time and most importantly, it saves money.

A one of a kind heart transplant was one man’s hope in Maryland USA. According to Mr. Bennett and the doctors who carry out the surgery, it was either so or die for David Bennett who became the first human in the world to get heart transplant from a genetically modified pig. At this point it hard to tell how Mr. Bennett body will react to his new heart. But seven hours after the surgery, the David Bennett appears to be feeling better.

At least 50 death or missing in Kentucky’s tornado

Tornado is no stranger to the state of Kentucky. As the winter crawls in across the US, many states are beginning to experience strong winds and cold temperatures. One of these states includes Kentucky which was struck yesterday by one of the worst tornado recorded in the state. The Kentucky state governor, Andy Beshear, said on a broadcast today that, “we believe our death toll from this event will exceed 50 Kentuckians”. Some of the damaged buildings include an Amazon warehouse in edwardsville, where at least 2 people may have been killed or injured.

Actor Jussie Smollett found guilty of staging attack on himself.

The former empire actor, Jussie Smollett reported an attack to Chicago police back in January 9th of this year. He claimed two white men wearing maga hats poured a liquid substance on him, and shouted racial slurs at him in the early morning of January, 9th. They were a lot of doubt surrounding this claim as many didn’t believe the attack actually happened. After a prolong trail, on December 11, a jury of 12 found Jessie Smollett guilt of five count of disorderly conduct for falsely making report to police. Smollett lawyer says, “I respectfully disagree with the verdict and will appeal.”

According to WHO, the world health organization, no death has yet been recorded from the new COVID-19 variant. But as the new virus spreads across the globe, many nations are putting restrictions on who can enter the country. Some of the nations which have been put on high alert is South Africa where the new Covid-19 was said to have originated. However, cases of infections in Europe are alarming. As of yesterday, France reported more than 50,000 new cases of Covid infection. Anyone coming into the United States from any of the restricted countries may not be allowed entry if they are not a US citizen.

To North Korea leader, Kim Jong-un, nothing seems unreachable. From his rise to power, rocket launching, and strict rules, there’s no limit to what this Asian leader will do to enforce his wish. Kim has a taste for expensive leather jacket, which became famous with him since 2019. As many rich and famous people who can afford the price tag, copied this fashion style, many fake leather coat manufacturers saw an opportunity to sell similar cheap coats to those who can’t afford the real one. North Korean leaders  sees this as an embarrassment. As a result,  North Korea authorities announced they will be banning leather coat to prevent the people from imitating the leader’s fashion style.

As many European countries are battling with the rise of Covid infection rate, scientists in South Africa are discovering another variant of the Covid virus. Currently assigned a numeric name, B.1.1529, the director of the UCL Genetics Institute, Francois Balloux, said the new Covid strand is likely to have evolved during a strong infection of an immune-compromised person. 

Three men found guilty in Ahmaud Arbery’s case

Few days before thanksgiving, a Georgia jury found the three defendants involved in Ahmad Arbery shooting, guilty of murder. The basics of the defense argument was that, Greg and Travis Mcmichael acted in self defense. But based on the prosecution’s argument, the jury thought otherwise. Since the week of the shooting, the Arbery shooting had spark riots and protest as many believed, Arbery was profiled and shoot simply because of the color of his skin, not because Travis, the shooter, thought Arbery was a burglar. 

31 people lost their lives at sea after boat sinks.

In what is described as one of the worst migrant crossing disaster to occur on the English Channel between France and the Uk, at least 31 people lost their lives today after their boat sank. British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, said he was “shocked and deeply saddened by the lost of life at sea.” He added during a interview today that, “it’s time for us to work together and do everything we can to stop these gangs who are getting away with murder.”

Christmas parade incident in Wisconsin

On Friday Nov. 22, during a Christmas parade in Waukesha Wisconsin, a red SUV raced into a crowd of people, killing 5 and injuring more than 40 people. The motive of the driver for committing such act was unclear, but officials  said the incident wasn’t an act of terrorism. 

Malcolm X daughter found dead in NYC apartment.

Malikah Shabazz, one of Malcolm X’s daughters was found dead in her Brooklyn, New York home on Monday. Malikah, one of six daughters of Malcolm was 56 at the time of her death. According to law officials, her death doesn’t appear suspicious. The details of the incident is pending further investigations.

Today Nov. 14 2021, Bandar Abbas in Southern Iran was shaken by two earthquakes, the largest measuring 6.4 magnitude. As if one wasn’t enough, another 6.3 magnitude shaken was felt minutes after the first quake. The shaken destroyed many homes and killing at least one person.

This is the story of eight people who died in Houston Texas on Friday the 5th of November during the Astroworld festival. The family of some of the victims are considering bringing a lawsuit against Travis Scott and the Astroworld organizers. Travis Scott was performing on stage at the time of this incident, but is Travis guilty of a circumstance that is beyond his control?

Much have been said about the circumstances surrounding the killing, however, the final decision will be in the hands of twelve Jury selected to make the verdict. Starting at $699, the iPhone 13 featured various changes compared to it’s predecessor. Apple announced yesterday that the iPhone 13 comes with a more improved performance, new camera features and longer battery life. Although, the iPhone 13 has a similar flat edge that makes it similar in appearance to the iPhone 12, the iPhone 13 comes in five different colors: pink, red, blue, midnight and starlight.

Named after the discoverer, hurricane Ida is the second Atlantic hurricane to hit the state of Louisiana. If you are in Louisiana when hurricane Katrina happened in 2005,  you will understand why 1000’s of people fled their houses when they heard about hurricane Ida. Considering the damages caused by Katrina, it is reasonable to predict that Ida will do millions of dollars in damages and it may take years for the affected regions to fully recover.

Bill Cosby is free at last

After a long trial that lead to a 3 to 10 years sentence in 2018, Bill Cosby has finally been released from prison. Even though he was considered legally blind during his incarceration, that wasn’t the reason why he was released. According to Mr Cosby’s defense, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that, because of an agreement made by a previous prosecutor not to charge Bill Cosby, the case should have never been brought to trail. As a result, the case was overturned.

Florida building collapsed

As this scene in Florida may remind most people of the twin tower on 9/11, the Champlain tower south condominium  that partially collapsed on June 24 in a Miami suburb, killing 98 people wasn’t a terrorist attack. According to USA Today, part of what lead to the damage was due to construction errors and concrete deterioration. Further investigations continues as the remaining part of the building is set to be demolished.

On March 16, at three different spa parlor,  8 people were shot to death in the metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia. The shooting appears to be race related as all the victims involved happens to be Asians. Authorities are looking for a white male, who was captured  in a surveillance camera, carrying a gun at the time of the incident.

Snow storm hit Texas

Snow storm isn’t  what a Texian would expect, even during a winter season like February. But unexpectedly, it start to snow in Texas. And this was not just an ordinal snow fall, an 11.2 inches, snow storm is happening in Texas. This unanticipated weather caused a state of emergency in the affected areas. Hundreds of thousands of people in the Houston area are without electricity and some without running water.
